The Door in the Dungeon.
Basic building

In this chapter, you will build a door that opens when it is touched.

Your first challenge, is to
create a door prim,
apply a texture to it, and
place it where you need it.

You are ready for this chapter when you can:
  • Create a prim
  • Set prim dimensions numerically
  • Set prim dimensions with mouse
  • Move prims with the mouse
  • Assign a name to a prim
  • Open a box, get items from it
  • Set texture from texture tab
  • Search for an object in inventory
  • You don't really have to be good at these things.

    Create a door prim
    1. Create a cube.
    2. Name it MY DOOR.
    3. Set the dimensions: x=1.500, y=0.050, z=3.500
You have a prim in the shape of a door.
Apply the texture to make a door
    1. Right click on the mini-door, select open, take Basic Door Texture into your inventory. (MiniDoor TBD)
    2.  Edit the prim with the texture tab. Find and select the texture called "Basic Door Texture".  When you like what you see, click accept. You may want to use the search option.

If you don't see the name, open any folders you see.

    You now have a door.
Place the door against the dungeon wall.
Next challenge: make the door open and close. Want to learn more? Contact Samson Havercamp for advanced tutorials or to schedule workshops.
