Welcome to Second Life
prepared by the Second Life Section of TCF.

Webworking pages    This and the child pages below are presently in collaborative development.  In the olden days, I would have used notes, outlines, and Power Point files.   Now I put my draft out on the web.   That way people can see it and make suggestions.

By the time of the presentation, the pages will be reasonably complete.  At that point, they will serve in place of the paper handouts we used back in those olden days.  No trees cut down, no papers to carry, no trash to discard next fall.

After the presentation, I will revise to include things that I should have put in.  Then I will leave the pages up indefinitely in case anyone wants to use them again.  Just like putting a paper in the Proceedings.  Except you can Google this one.

Sure.  Webworking in public is a little like letting people watch you make sausage.  But it lets me tell another story.  I don't even want to get it right the first time. I just want to get it right by the time of the presentation.

Introduction

You might expect Thinkerer
to put the introduction at the bottom.

I must have done it wrong.  I should have grown up by now.  Should have long since given up these childish games of imagination.  I should have settled into a proper life of quiet desperation.  Sorry, Henry David.

By now I should be standing by the side of the road, chatting with Vladimir and Estragon as we wait for Godot.

Instead, I choose to waste my time exploring Second Life.   Maybe I figured out what to do while waiting.  Sorry, Godot.  Don't wait up for me.

TCF Agents package.  Mainly of interest to our agents of the  Second Life Section of TCF, but you are welcome to follow our plot.

Key themes

My version of Virtual Power Point

1. Virtual reality is the next killer app.

Collaboration.  Cooperation.  Community.
And what used to be called networking

2. Your new web browser is web 3.D.

Flat browsers are so last century.   So here is your new hype term

3. New calculus.  Distance approaches zero.

Forget about limits.  Think possibilities

4. Virtual markets are for real products.

Just a lot more efficient.

5. Modern presentation:  Don't tell.  Show.

Hey, we ought to try that
