Posters often give notecards There are posters around the square. Now that you can roam and zoom, you can look at them as closely as you want. Click on a poster and it will give you a notecard with information, graphics, and maybe other noecards. These are "embedded." Click on an embedded notecard to see its contents and to copy it to your inventory. Some of the posters will be showing a sequence of screen shots. Those will cycle every few minutes. The notecards you get from those posters will carry the same graphics as the posters. |

Student Group, Hobo Kit The view on the right shows two important signs to look for. Click on the one that mentions the Rockcliffe Student Group and it will automatically enroll you in that group. You can then use the IM channel in that group to ask questions or ask for help. That resource is available wherever you are in Second Life. Various faculty members monitor this channel and will try to provide help. The other poster will give you a complete copy of the Hobo Kit. This is a pocket reference guide. You would not read through it. You would just look at it when you want to know something. Then click on the relevant note card. |

Translator, Town and Gown There is a second part of the gateway, just over the bridge. The view on the right shows a panel (strainge shape) that offers a Ferd Google translator. People typing different languages can communicate if one is using Ferd’s translator. It automatically detects the language of each person and provides the appropriate translation if they do not speak the same language. The collection of panels is part of my Town & Gown project. It offers notice lists that will keep people informed about entertainment events such as theater, comedy, or writing. The idea is to encourage the newcomers to explore the cultural amenities of Second Lif |
