1. You get a web link in chat or IM. 2. You want to read a web page in SL. 3. You want to use the internal browser to set web-on-prim |
A valid link (url) will appear in blue. Click or double
click on it. A browser will open up, the SL internal browser
or your main browser. Which one depends on your SL settings.
To change the settings, go to Edit (top of screen) >web tab > Use external browser or Use built-in browser. You will probably find the setting to built-in browser most convenient because that browser has a button to open your main browser if you need it. The internal browser is easier to use while you are doing things in SL, but it is more limited than your main browser. |
| Show video in your main browser while you follow it in SL. | The video carries instructions for something you want to do in SL | Open you main browser (see above) and start the video. Shrink the browser window and the SL window and work in SL. The video will continue to play. You can also work with the video window as needed. |
| Find people nearby | Meet people, talk, hear what is happening, ask questions. | Open your world Map (bottom line, right of center). Each green dot is a person. If you hover the cursor over a sim, you get a note about how many people are in the sim. To teleport somewhere, click on the place. A red circle marks your destination. Click the teleport button to go there. |

| SL is acting weird |
>Edit>Preferences>network>clear cache. Log off and log back on. Some hobos set their clients to clear cache at every log in: Clear cache automatically ... Advanced (Alt+Ctl+D if it is not in the top menu) >Debug Settings. Click that, type PurgeCacheOnStartup in window. Set that to true....caution -- not the one that says next time only. >Check Grid Status |
