Traditional brainstorming is a great way to find new ideas. All you need is a group of people willing to think about the problem. Here are the main steps. |

Get something big to write on: blackboard, whiteboard, or wall paper. |
Wall paper: Sheets taped on a wall. |

Have a marker to write with. |
That puts you in charge of the meeting. |

Get other people to write ideas they hear. |

At the top of the board, write one or two questions you want answered. |

If you don't know what questions to put up, your Quest Question is: What questions do we need to answer? |

Everybody's job is to suggest ideas that might help to answer the questions. |

Everybody: The team’s job is to get lots of different ideas on the board. |
The way to find a good idea is to have lots of ideas to choose from. |

Any idea is good as long as it has to do with answering the questions. Strange and funny ideas are OKAY. |
The road to the answer that works is paved with answers that don't work. |

Criticism is OUT. Criticism will sabotage any brainstorming session. |

When people run out of ideas, take a break. During the break, look for ideas that are similar to each other. Put similar ideas close together. |
