Sound recording software If out already have sound recording software, it will probably do the job.  If not, Audacity is a good choice.  It is a free download. It will output .wav format, not mp3 format, so you also need a format transcoder.   Format Factory, another free download is a good for transcoding most anything. For instructions on using audacity to make a recording, see VO Tech crib sheet. Audacity

Recording from Skype Skype offers an add-on for recording call content.  On your main Skype panel, top menu, clock on Tools.  On drop down menu, click on Do More.  On next menu, click on Pamela.  This is free for short recordings.  A version that allows unlimited recording costs about $20 USD (one time). Skype
Mike setup You need a headset with mike at the mouth for recording.  Required mike quality will depend on type of sound, voice characteristics, volume level, room noise/reverb, and other factors.   Start with any headset/mike you have, send us your mp3, and we'll get back to you on improvements you may need.
